Ngige-Nigeria’s unemployment rate to hit 33.5% by 2020

National Bureau of Statistic (NBS) has released its latest data indicating that Nigeria’s unemployment rate may reach an all-time of 33.5% by 2020.

The development has led to a two-day stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja on Thursday with the theme-”Breaking the Resilience of High Unemployment Rate in the Country”.

Stakeholders at the meeting express worries of the attendant effect of rising unemployment in the country and posited that the high prevalence of crimes such as murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, insurgency, militancy may not be unconnected with the growing number of the unemployed.

A representative was sent from the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to declare the workshop open.
