A UNN 400 level student commits suicide

A 400 level student of the Department of English and Literary Studies, of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Chukwuemeka Akachi, is alleged to have committed suicide.

It was reported that the deceased went to an uncompleted building on Sullivan Road, Nsukka, where he allegedly drank two bottles of ‘Sniper’ and fell into a coma.

He was later found by some students who raised an alarm and rushed him to UNN Federal Medical Centre.

Eye witness report confirmed that Akachi posted a suicide note on his Facebook wall, shortly before he took his own life yesterday and also wrote about his battle with mental health.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in Enugu State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the report to NAN, describing it as “pathetic and unfortunate”.

    1. Really so sad. The rate of suicide in the country is alarming. The stress in Nigeria is just too much, that many people are giving up.
