Escalating U.S/China trade war-Google restricts its services to Huawei after Trump blacklist

Following the Trump administration blacklisting of Huawei, Google is restricting it access to its Android operating system.

This has escalated the trade war between the U.S and China and it is now having a significant impact on Huawei, whose goal is to be the top smartphone brand by 2020.

The Chinese tech firm, which is the world’s No.2 smartphone seller, relies heavily on a suite of Google services for its devices which include the Android system and the Google Play app store.

Existing Huawei phones will be unaffected.

The U.S government has placed Huawei on a list of foreign firms deemed to undermine American national security or foreign policy interest.
