100-year-old Pa Egbunuche, Nigeria’s oldest prisoner regains freedom

Pa Celestine Egbunuche, Nigeria’s oldest prisoner has regained his freedom, after serving 19 years at the Enugu Maximum Prison.

The 100-year-old Pa Egbunuche was sent to jail after a court found him and his son, Paul, guilty of plotting murder and sentenced him to death.

He had this to say to newsmen after his release-“I am so grateful to God for this day. I am the happiest being on earth.”

The immediate past governor of Imo State, Rocha Okorocha, just before leaving office granted him state pardon.
