Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the forfeiture of 2,149 pieces of jewelry and customised gold iPhone all valued at $40m, belonging to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The judge has ordered that the items be temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government following an ex parte application moved yesterday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo.
The EFCC while making its application before the court said it found and recovered the jewelry and the customised gold iPhone which it believes were acquired with “proceeds of unlawful activities”.
