The reason why Serena Williams was fined $10,000 at Wimbledon

The Seven-time champion, Serena Williams has been fined $10,000 at Wimbledon for damaging one of the All England Club courts with her racket, officials said Tuesday.

The incident which took place during a practice session before the tournament began, got the 37-year-old American sanctioned.

A spokeswoman told AFP that the code given is for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Williams will face fellow American Alison Riske twice later Tuesday for a place in the semi-finals, after which she returns to Centre Court to partner Britain’s Andy Murray in the mixed doubles.
