The branch chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Enugu State, Barrister Emmanuel Emeka Agundu has been killed by fraudster Kenechukwu Eze and his gang for allegedly withholding N18 million internet fraud proceed.
The State Commissioner of Police, Balarabe Suleiman while parading 33 suspects for their alleged involvement in criminal activities in the state, said Eze and his group, shot and killed Agundu on September 2, 2018 and was arrested on July 10, 2019.
The 39-year-old member of a five-man gang of internet fraudsters based in Morocco revealed during an interview with newsmen that N18 million was paid by their victim into Agundu’s Nigerian bank account.
The suspect said that as a member of the gang, Agundu’s job was to supply the account the money would be paid into and that after receiving the payment, he refused to make it available for sharing according to their agreed formula.
Eze added that the group decided to terminate his life when the deceased started threatening to report the matter to security agents.
