John Wesley, who played Dr. Hoover in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air sitcom dies at 72

American actor, John Wesley who played Dr. Hoover in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air sitcom has died. He was age 72.

Wesley died from complications due to a long battled with multiple myeloma, his family said on Sunday, September 9, 2019.

“John Wesley was a gift to the world, for his kindness and grace are immortalized in his works of theatre, TV and film,” Wesley’s manager and producer, Gerry Pass, said in a statement. “I am heartbroken to have lost a dear friend today.”

The actor, a native of Louisiana, best known for his work on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, had more than 100 film and television credits, including Frasier, Big Fish, The Jeffersons and Benson.

Wesley worked with the likes of Barbra Streisand, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington and other notable stars.
